First of all Happy New Year to everyone and I wish each of you a Healthy, Safe and prosperous 2012!
As predicted, 2011 turned out to be the second best year for sales of resale homes in the history of the GTA. The Toronto Real Estate Board reported that 89,347 homes “exchanged hands” during 2011! 2011 sales finished +4% versus 2010 and is an excellent result considering sales at the end of July were -1.7% compared to the end of July 2010
The Real Estate market in the GTA continues to show steady growth both in units and dollars as the average price for a home in the GTA is now $465,412 an increase of 8% versus 2010!
The Toronto Real Estate Board reported that the average price for a home (all types) in Mississauga at the end of 2011 is $421,096
Here are 4 points you may want to know regarding our Real Estate Market:
- Great news for buyers- BMO has sparked a “mortgage war” by offering a historic low 2.99% rate on a 5 yr closed mortgage! Other chartered banks are expected to follow. Those of you with variable rate mortgages may want to consider locking into this 5 yr program
- I expect our Real Estate market in 2012 to continue it’s steady growth both in units and dollars- especially with continued shortage of listings, healthy buyer demand and now a record low interest rate program
