Lorne Park was originally settled in the 1830s and became well-known for fruit growing. Lorne Park received its name from the then Governor-General, the Marquis of Lorne, and became popular as a cottage community and amusement park, as visitors from Toronto would arrive by train or steamer. Lorne Park eventually became a settled residential community, and the area once occupied by the amusement park is now Lorne Park Estates
